Chris Hables Gray is the author of numerous books on Technology and Culture, such as Postmodern War (1995), Cyborg Citizen (2001), and Virus is a Language: AI, QAnon, COVID-19 and the New Abnormal (forthcoming, Goldsmiths Press/MIT Press). He lives in Santa Cruz, California and sometimes lectures at the University of California campus there but basically he is a very independent scholar. He is active in the group Los Californianos for descendants of pre-1849 California families and is writing a history of—and argument for—California identity called Becoming California: Geography, Genetics, Genealogy.
