Tyneham Montages: using illustrated panoramas to reveal the hidden narratives and heritage of a village evacuated during World War II.

Rachael is a Senior Lecturer at Portsmouth School of Architecture, specialising in interior architecture and design. With an MA in Illustration, she creates hand-crafted artist’s books and scrolls using painting, drawing, and collage to explore social, political, and cultural themes. Her research includes "Time after Time," a series of 1.5-meter panoramas depicting global events from 2016 to 2021, focussing on social justice, and "Tyneham Montages," a collaborative project that aims to reveal the hidden narratives and heritage of a WWII-evacuated village. Rachael also incorporates collage, artist’s books, and zines as methods to help MA interior students develop their spatial practices.
