Sophie Pélissier

Demolition of the Grosvenor Hotel, Bristol, 1875-2024

Sophie Pélissier is a printmaker and illustrator based in Bristol. She is self-taught but in 2024 she completed an MA in Illustration at Falmouth University, where she began to explore techniques using layering to reveal untold narratives in social history. Sophie uses a practice-based approach to research layers of hidden memory embedded in the built landscape, which she represents through screenprinting. She is currently working on a local heritage project documenting lost and forgotten public buildings in Bristol including cinemas, hotels and shops, inspired by her own ancestry in the city.
